Install CALs in SBS 2008

Many people are confused on the proper procedure to install Client Access Licenses (CALs) in Microsoft Small Business Server 2008. Those who know Small Business Server 2003, are searching for option to add CALs using Server Manager, but there is no such option.

The proper answer to the question "How to install CALs in SBS 2008" is simple; you just do not do it on the server itself. You should place the CALS in secure place, which will prevent them from being destroyed or lost. Because there is no "software lock" in the server itself, you can think that you can just purchase SBS 2008, which comes with 5 CALs, and add for example 30 users. That is wrong please remember you always should be legal and purchases as many Client Access Licenses as needed in your organization. For more details please review Licensing section of the SBS FAQ
